Imaging Informatics

Modern diagnostic and therapeutic radiology is inseparable from informatics concepts. Most of new imaging modalities are inherently digital and the others including conventional radiography and ultrasonography are being more and more digitized. Medical imaging has made benefit from being digital in terms of management, diagnostic accuracy, communication, education and research.
On the other hand, current radiology training programs have limited informatics topics in most countries including iran, not letting the graduate radiologists and technologists to use digital facilities effectively.
Limited knowledge and practical experience in digital imaging has resulted in conserrvative consumption of digital products and services. So the market of these products is unbelievably limited in Iran despite their rapid international growth.
We believe that specific training courses covering basic knowledge of imaging informatics may play a role in filling the gap between radiologists and industry. The end users of radiology informatics products need to be familiar with available solutions for going film-less and digital.
